Eva Richards is honored to have been cast as the Teacher Susie u/s and swing in the original company of Jim Henson’s Sid the Science Kid Live! Tour. The show is directed by Tony nominee, John Tartaglia and choreographed by Broadway veteran, Shannon Lewis. Eva recently performed as Dorothy in the seven time Tony award winning musical, The Wiz, in Westchester, NY. Prior to this, she completed a six month contract performing on the Norwegian Jewel for Nickelodeon and had the privilege of being named show captain. Eva was recently interviewed by Cameron Diaz herself, to be a part of her new book, The Body Book. Other credits include: Ellis Island Natl. Tour (Ninya Petrova), Parade (Monteen), A Little Night Music (Fredrika), Spelling Bee (Schwarzy) and a national TV commercial for Special K that aired during the 2013 Summer Olympics. Eva was also invited to perform as the solo vocalist with the SUNY Fredonia Latin Jazz Ensemble for the 2011 NY State Governor’s Inauguration at the Albany Convention Center.
Eva is a native of Queens, New York and an alumna of SUNY Fredonia from which she graduated Cum Laude and with honors in liberal arts. She holds a B.A. in Vocal Music and a B.S. in Business Administration with a Marketing concentration. She also holds a double minor in Spanish Language and Jazz Studies. Before her time spent at SUNY Fredonia, Eva was a vocal major at the prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. During her time at LaGuardia, Eva had the privilege of performing in Carnegie Hall with Hugh Masekela and Paul Simon, and performed at Alice Tulley Hall as well.
Eva has continued honing her craft post-university at the Upright Citizens Brigade. After taking Improv 101 with Shannon O’Neill, she completed Improv 201 with Brandon Gardner. She plans to continue her studies at UCB when she returns from tour this summer. Eva has also studied commercial technique with Angela Mickey of Liz Lewis Casting and Barry Shapiro of Herman & Lipson Casting. She’s attended musical theatre workshops by casting directors from Telsey + Co. as well as long time Disney casting director, Jen Rudin.
In addition to this, Eva hosted a web series called What You Can Do directed by Alicia Arinella, and has worked for RWS & Associates and Hershey Park’s, Windish Music & Productions at various theme parks. Not only was she singing and dancing, but she was drumming as well! Eva has also sung at various venues throughout NYC including The Duplex Cabaret Theatre, Don’t Tell Mama, the Laurie Beechman Theatre, B.B. King’s, Lucille’s Bar & Grill and Queens Theatre in the Park. Shortly after graduating college, Eva competed in a 15-week American Idol-style singing competition at the historic Stonewall Inn, in which she ended up coming in second place! She received multiple callbacks from Telsey + Co. for the Broadway production of In The Heights for the role of Nina and also made it to the final callbacks for the off-Broadway show My Big Gay Italian Wedding.
Eva is fluent in Spanish and can sing in Portuguese, Italian, French & German. She is also skilled in piano, African drumming and Latin percussion and has extensive experience performing Latin Jazz and Bossa Nova music. Aside from this, Eva loves to travel! After spending a semester abroad living in Barcelona with a host family, she travelled to Dublin, Paris, Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Granada, Rome, Florence, Venice, Japan, Mexico, Canada, all throughout the Caribbean, and most recently Australia and New Zealand! In her free time, she enjoys hiking, camping, canyoning (quite the adventure seeker) and yoga. She lives in New York with her wonderful roommate, and her adorable puppy.
